HENNIKER — A routine check on a disabled vehicle led to a significant drug bust early Sunday morning, according to the Henniker Police Department.

At 12:30 a.m., Sgt. Matthew Mitchell was notified about a stranded motor vehicle on Route 202&9 near the Hillsboro town line.

Upon arrival, Mitchell encountered two individuals inside the vehicle.

After a conversation with the occupants, Mitchell was granted consent to search the car.

During the search, Mitchell discovered several substances suspected to be illegal drugs, including 15.5 ounces of a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine, 12.44 ounces of a white powdery substance thought to be fentanyl, and 2.31 ounces of a rock-like substance suspected to be crack cocaine.

The two individuals were arrested and have been charged in connection with the seized substances.

Their identities have not been released, in line with the department’s policy of not publicly shaming or identifying suspects.
