HOLYOKE — A man was arrested early Sunday morning in connection with the murder of a woman in Holyoke, authorities said.
At 1:30 a.m., officers from the Holyoke Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting suspicious activity on the 200 block of South Water Street.
Upon arrival, they found a male and a female with the female suffering from stab wounds and the male unresponsive due to what appeared to be self-inflicted harm.
Despite efforts to render aid, the female victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male, later identified as Jason Chapdelaine, 52, of Springfield, was taken into custody and charged with murder.
Chapdelaine is scheduled to be arraigned at Holyoke District Court on Tuesday, April 16.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Holyoke Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Murder Unit.
Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni has urged anyone with further information to come forward as the inquiry continues.
