ST. ALBANS — A routine call about a pedestrian on Interstate 89 turned into an arrest for a man wanted on a New Jersey parole violation warrant.
Vermont State Police troopers were dispatched to I-89 at around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday after receiving multiple reports of a man walking southbound, throwing objects at passing vehicles, and attempting to hitchhike.
Upon arrival, they identified the man as 28-year-old Taevon Williams, whose last known residence was out of state.
A background check revealed that Williams was wanted for a parole violation in New Jersey, stemming from convictions on first-degree unlawful possession of weapons and third-degree aggravated assault.
Williams was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Northwest State Correctional Facility, where he was held without bail.
He is scheduled for arraignment at the Vermont Superior Court – Franklin Criminal Division on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
