SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Police Department officers arrested two suspects and confiscated a loaded firearm along with various drugs on Dickinson Street on April 7 at around 5:30 p.m.,

The incident followed a 4:45 p.m. call to Trafton Road concerning a disturbance that reportedly involved a gun.

Police located one of the suspects, Kenneth Latino, in a driveway on the 300 block of Dickinson Street.

According to authorities, Latino was seen passing a firearm to Anastasia Doucette, who then concealed it in her waistband.

Latino was taken into custody without incident.

Doucette initially resisted officers’ attempts to secure the firearm, which eventually dropped from her pant leg.

A subsequent search of Doucette’s fanny pack revealed two additional loaded firearm magazines and quantities of heroin, Xanax, and cocaine.

During the arrest, Doucette also allegedly threatened to shoot an officer.

Both Latino and Doucette were placed under arrest, with Latino facing multiple charges, including three counts related to previous firearms convictions.

The 27-year-old Latino, a Springfield resident, is being charged with a variety of offenses, including malicious damage to a motor vehicle, assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number during the commission of a felony, and several other firearms and drug-related charges.

Douchette, 20, also from Springfield, faces charges including possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number during the commission of a felony, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, multiple counts of drug possession with the intent to distribute, and tampering with evidence.

Both suspects are expected to face further legal proceedings as a result of the incident.
