WEYBRIDGE — A local man was killed in a rain-related traffic accident on Morgan Horse Farm Road on Thursday afternoon, according to Vermont State Police.
David K. Ricklefs, 53, of Middlebury, was driving a 2013 Subaru Impreza northbound when he lost control, crossed into the opposing lane, and collided with a tree on the roadside.
The incident occurred at around 4:12 p.m. near 2813 Morgan Horse Farm Road in wet road conditions.
Ricklefs, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to UVM Medical Center.
He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The Vermont State Police Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
