NEWPORT –– The Vermont State Police responded to three separate motor vehicle crashes in the Orleans County over the past week.
On April 10, at approximately 12:00 p.m., troopers and the Derby Line Fire Department were dispatched to Ridge Hill Drive in Derby for a single-vehicle crash. The operator, identified as an 18-year-old from Derby, was found to be traveling above the posted speed limit on the wet gravel road when she lost control of her 2012 Subaru Outback while negotiating a corner.
Further investigation revealed that the driver only had a learner’s permit and was not accompanied by a licensed passenger. No injuries were reported, but the vehicle was totaled. Ray’s Auto assisted at the scene.
On April 5, at 8:28 a.m., police received a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Cheney Road and Ostiguy Road in Lowell. Adam Josey, 36, of Lowell, was driving a 2019 Ram 1500 when he lost control and crashed into a 2012 GMC Sierra driven by Robert Naramore, 32, of Newport Center.
Josey’s vehicle sustained minor damage, while Naramore’s vehicle had moderate damage. Naramore reported minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital.
On April 8, at 2:58 p.m., troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on VT Route 14 in Craftsbury. Christopher Dix, 28, of Williamstown, was operating a 2016 Ford Explorer when he went off the roadway into a culvert. The vehicle sustained major damage, but Dix was wearing his seatbelt and did not report any injuries.
