PUTNAM — A man claiming to work with the Fire Marshal’s office rang the doorbell of a local residence today at about 9:43 a.m., prompting an investigation by the Putnam Police Department.
According to authorities, the homeowner engaged the subject through a doorbell camera.
During the brief interaction, the homeowner suspected the individual was not affiliated with the Fire Marshal’s office and directed him to leave the property.
Officials from the Putnam Fire Marshal’s office assert that their representatives will always properly identify themselves and present the necessary credentials when visiting residences.
The police are currently investigating the incident and have released images of the man in question.
They are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.
