SOUTHBOROUGH — A fatal motor vehicle accident claimed the life of a 23-year-old Marlborough resident early Sunday morning.
According to the Southborough Police Department, local police and fire crews responded to the scene at #103 Main Street where they found a car engulfed in flames with the driver trapped inside.
Despite the efforts of first responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the site of the crash.
The incident, which occurred on April 7, led to a closure of the road as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
The Southborough Police and the Massachusetts State Police are conducting a joint investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
Utility companies including National Grid and Verizon have been working overnight to repair a damaged utility pole and downed wires resulting from the accident.
