WEST SPRINGFIELD — A woman suffered a fatal gunshot wound in a parking lot on the 500 block of Riverdale Road on Monday, prompting a swift response from local authorities.
West Springfield Police Department received a call about a disturbance at around 10:45 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the injured woman.
She was quickly transported to Baystate Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Officials have indicated that there is no ongoing threat to the community’s safety.
The incident is currently under investigation by the West Springfield Police, State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s office, and the D.A.’s murder unit.
