FRANKLIN — Officers responded to a break-in at the Moonlight Smoke Shop on East Central Street Wednesday morning after a witness reported a blue vehicle fleeing the scene.
The Franklin Police Department received a call around 7:38 a.m. from the Metacomet Emergency Communication Center regarding a potential break-in at the store.
Upon arrival, police found the front door’s glass smashed and confirmed that an entry had been made.
Although officers searched the area, they were unable to locate the vehicle or any suspects.
Detectives and additional police personnel remain on the scene conducting an investigation.
At present, it is unclear what, if any, items were stolen from the shop.
This incident marks the third recent break-in at Moonlight Smoke Shop, following incidents on Feb. 4 and March 10.
While three juveniles were charged in connection with the February incident, the March break-in is still under investigation.
The Franklin Police Department has not released any further details as the investigation into today’s event continues.
