New Haven police arrest two in November shooting

NEW HAVEN — Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place last November in New Haven, according to the city’s police department.

On Nov. 12, at approximately 4:13 p.m., New Haven officers responded to a reported shooting in a backyard on Hazel Street near Shelton Avenue.

The victim, found with gunshot wounds to his arm, was treated at the scene by Officer Luke Julianne who applied a tourniquet.

The victim was then transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital and survived the injuries.

Detective Maegan Moran of the Investigative Services Division led the investigation, identifying Tyrick Warren, 30, of New Haven, and Branden Harper, 29, of Hamden, as the suspects.

Arrest warrants were issued for both men.

Warren, who has been incarcerated since Nov. 15 on unrelated charges, faces counts of first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, first-degree reckless endangerment, and conspiracy to commit first-degree reckless endangerment.

Harper was apprehended on March 27 after attempting to flee a traffic stop.

His charges include first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of an assault weapon, first-degree reckless endangerment, conspiracy to commit first-degree reckless endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, intent to sell, failure to obey an officer’s signal, reckless driving, and interfering with police.

Both men have bonds set at $300,000.
