NEWPORT — The North Country Supervisory Union (NCSU) Board announced the appointment of Jennifer Nye of Albany as the new assistant superintendent, effective July 1. Bringing over two decades of experience in both private and public-school settings, Nye is currently the co-principal at Barre Town Middle and Elementary School.
In her new role, Nye will support the superintendent in a range of responsibilities including the operational and financial services of NCSU. She will be instrumental in planning and overseeing Consolidated Federal Program grants, state and local assessments, as well as managing facilities maintenance, safety, security, and construction within the union’s schools.
Nye’s career is marked by strong leadership skills, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to the well-being of staff, students, and families. Her upcoming responsibilities will also involve collaborating on business and financial affairs, and child nutrition services.
This appointment aligns with NCSU’s goals of fostering innovation and excellence in education, as well as upholding commitments to character, competence, creativity, and community. Nye’s academic background includes a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from Saint Michael’s College, degrees from Johnson State College and Lesley College, and she is currently enrolled in the CSML program at Harvard University.
Holding Vermont certifications for Principal, elementary education, and a Level II professional educator license, her expertise spans budget and finances, school leadership, interpersonal skills, and more. Nye emphasizes the importance of creating a family culture in educational settings, focusing on inclusivity, transparency, and solution-oriented approaches.
