Oak Bluffs police arrest several, respond to disturbances over busy weekend

OAK BLUFFS — A series of arrests and incidents kept the Oak Bluffs Police Department busy over the last weekend of March, handling 32 events including erratic driving, a fight, and vandalism.

On Friday at 5:16 p.m., officers were called to Sea View Avenue for a report of an erratic driver.

The suspect was stopped on Lake Avenue and arrested for unlicensed vehicle operation, having an uninspected vehicle, and using an electronic device while driving.

Later that evening at 9:15 p.m., a traffic stop on Vineyard Avenue for speeding led to the arrest of a driver for operating after license suspension and the speeding violation itself.

The night escalated at 10:35 p.m. when officers responded to a reported fight on Pasque Avenue.

The altercation had moved to Oak Bluffs Avenue by the time officers arrived.

One male was arrested for Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault & Battery on a person over 60, and possession of psilocybin mushrooms.

The following day, Saturday, at 12:40 a.m., officers investigated suspicious activity in Cottage Park.

At 2:25 a.m., a citizen alerted an officer to a male sleeping in an alley off Circuit Avenue Extension.

The evening concluded at 7:56 p.m. with a call to a motel disturbance where room damages were reported.

On Sunday at 11:51 a.m., police took a vandalism report on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The weekend incidents wrapped up at 9:13 p.m. when officers assisted a person reporting stolen property on Manchester Avenue.

The Oak Bluffs Police Department has not released further details regarding the arrests or the conditions of the victims involved in the reported fight.
