NORWALK — A local man was taken into custody on March 31 after being stopped by police for driving with a baby on his lap, leading to the discovery of a loaded firearm and narcotics in his vehicle.
Naud Rodriguez, 26, of Norwalk, was arrested at 11:49 a.m. when a patrol officer observed the unsafe transportation of an infant and initiated a traffic stop.
The officer found no infant car seat in the car and detected a strong smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
Upon searching the car, officers found approximately 0.762 pounds of marijuana and a Sig Sauer P365 loaded handgun.
Rodriguez, who resides on the second floor of 14 Chapel St., now faces multiple charges, including Illegal Possession of Weapon in Motor Vehicle, Negligent Storage of a Firearm, Risk of Injury to a Child, Illegal Transfer of Child-Front Seat Restraint, Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell, and Use of Drug Paraphernalia.
His bond has been set at $250,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on April 15.
