Borderline Players announces season opener “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”

DERBY LINE — The Borderline Players is set to open their 2024 season with a bang, presenting “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.” This contemporary musical, updated in 2018 and known for its widespread appeal, will take to the stage on April 26-28 and May 3-5 at the historic Haskell Opera House.

With book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, the musical is celebrated as the second-longest running Off-Broadway show. It offers a humorous and relatable exploration of love and relationships, resonating with a wide range of audiences, from the single and searching to those navigating the complexities of marriage and beyond.

Directed and choreographed by Mary S. Hoadley, known for the 2019 hit “Mamma Mia,” the production promises a fresh and engaging experience. Hoadley, reflecting on her connection with the show, highlighted the finale song, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” as a poignant moment where the cast and audience connect on a deeply human level, exploring the perennial lure of love.

The talented cast includes Sarah Comtois, a seasoned performer with Borderline Players, alongside Jon Comtois, Todd Cubit, Elizabeth McElhaney, and Justin McElhaney, who brings years of experience from Tennessee. The show will feature a range of musical styles, from gospel to blues, ensuring an entertaining experience for all.
