WINDHAM — Maine State Police and local authorities announced Friday the arrest of a Leeds man in connection with the disappearance of a Windham resident last year.
Alex Jackson, 34, was reported missing by his family on May 14 after having no contact with them since May 12, an unusual occurrence according to relatives.
Over the following ten months, a comprehensive investigation was conducted by the Maine State Police, Windham Police Department, Lewiston Police Department, Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, and the New Hampshire State Police.
On March 29, an arrest warrant was issued for Joseph Chute, 30, of Leeds, on a murder charge.
Chute was apprehended Friday evening and is now being held at the Androscoggin County Jail without bail.
As of now, authorities have not recovered Jackson’s body.
Chute is scheduled to make his initial court appearance at the Androscoggin County Superior Court on April 1.
