CARROLL — A fatal crash that occurred on March 29 at approximately 9:30 p.m. is currently under investigation by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
The Penobscot Regional Communications Center received reports of a vehicle running off the roadway and into a body of water near 2445 Main Road.
Upon arrival, responders discovered the vehicle occupied by one deceased individual.
There were no passengers reported in the car.
Several citizens at the scene attempted to assist and provide medical aid to the operator before emergency services arrived.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and Accident Reconstruction Team were called to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident.
The sheriff’s office has expressed their intent to maintain the privacy of the decedent’s family during this difficult time and will not release the name of the individual until next of kin have been properly notified.
