GILSUM — A severe motor vehicle accident involving a head-on collision occurred on Route 10 near Gilsum at approximately 6:24 p.m. on March 29, resulting in serious injuries and entrapment, according to SWNH Alerts & Info.
Emergency services from Keene responded to the incident, and a medical evacuation helicopter (DHART) was requested.
The initial plan was to airlift the injured parties directly from the scene, but command later redirected the helicopter to Gilsum School at 6:43 p.m.
At 6:58 p.m., Keene EMS unit 19A1 was transporting one patient to the designated landing zone, while Cheshire County EMS was en route to Cheshire Medical requesting a trauma alert for the victims.
The accident has resulted in a prolonged on-scene investigation by authorities, with accident reconstruction teams at work.
Consequently, Route 10 has been shut down since 7:30 p.m. to facilitate the investigation and ensure public safety.
