FARMINGTON — A potentially dangerous situation was peacefully resolved today after Farmington Police Department officers responded to a call at around 4:30 p.m. about an individual experiencing a mental health crisis in the Walmart parking lot.
Authorities were informed that the person was armed and could pose a threat to themselves or others.
Responding officers swiftly established a perimeter to contain the situation.
In coordination with law enforcement, Walmart officials initiated a shelter in place to ensure the safety of customers and employees.
The individual was taken into protective custody without any incidents and was subsequently transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
The entire incident was resolved within about 30 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
Farmington Police Department has not released further details about the individual’s identity or condition, focusing on the successful de-escalation of the event.
