SHELTON — A local fitness center employee was arrested after allegedly stalking and harassing a 17-year-old girl through text messages and unsolicited video calls, police said Thursday.
Justin Negron, 27, is accused of using his access to the fitness center’s member database to obtain the minor’s cellphone number on March 15 after she declined an offer for a gym membership and personal training.
Officer Ferrao of the Shelton Police Patrol Division launched an investigation after the complaint was received on March 18.
The investigation revealed that Negron had sent numerous inappropriate and sexually explicit messages to the girl, as well as making repeated unwanted FaceTime calls.
With the evidence presented by the minor and her legal guardian, Officer Ferrao attempted to contact Negron, who refused to cooperate.
A warrant affidavit was issued, leading to Negron’s arrest after he turned himself in on March 21.
Negron was charged with second-degree stalking and second-degree harassment.
He was held on a $25,000 bond and appeared in Derby Superior Court on March 22.
