CANDIA — A Candia police cruiser was struck by a falling tree while an officer was setting up cones to warn drivers about road hazards, the Town of Candia Police Department reported.
The incident occurred during the midnight shift as the officer was placing cones to cordon off areas with downed trees, wires, or telephone poles.
Although the cruiser sustained damage, the officer was not injured in the event.
Authorities are emphasizing the importance of respecting road safety measures.
The police department shared photos of the damaged vehicle as a stark reminder of the dangers that can arise when drivers ignore cones and barriers.
“The cones are out for a reason,” the department stated, urging the public to exercise caution while driving and to avoid circumventing any road safety signals.
