BERLIN — A single-vehicle crash early this morning at the intersection of Lancaster Rd and Randall Rd has resulted in significant damages and extended road closures, according to the Berlin Police Department.
The Nashoba Valley Regional Emergency Communications Center received reports of the crash with injuries around 12:45 a.m.
Responding officers, alongside Berlin Fire & EMS Department, discovered a vehicle with extensive damage after it had struck a tree and a utility pole, causing the pole to fall and block Lancaster Rd.
The injured occupant was transported to a Worcester hospital for treatment of what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause and circumstances surrounding the crash are currently under investigation by the Berlin Police Department.
National Grid has announced that repair work on the downed utility pole will take approximately 3-4 more hours, with power expected to be restored later today.
The Berlin Police Department has issued a road closure advisory effective immediately.
Lancaster Rd is blocked at the intersection of Randall Rd, with no through traffic allowed.
Motorists must access properties beyond the intersection from the Bolton side.
Randall Rd is also closed between West St and Coburn Rd due to downed power lines.
Properties between Lancaster Rd and Coburn Rd are accessible via Coburn Rd, while properties between West St and Lancaster Rd can be accessed via West St. The police have thanked the Clinton and Bolton Police Departments for their assistance with managing the road closures.
Officials have advised that the road closures are expected to last through most of the day, and drivers are urged to seek alternative routes and follow detour signs.
