EAST HAVEN — An East Haven man was arrested today following an investigation into a sexual assault that occurred in 2017, the East Haven Police Department announced.
Widman Vicuna-Rodriguez, 49, of Englewood Drive, turned himself in to authorities this morning and was charged with sexual assault in the fourth degree and risk of injury to a child.
The investigation, led by Detective Monique Colbert, began in July when the Department of Children and Families referred a case to the East Haven Police after uncovering the assault during an unrelated investigation.
According to police, Vicuna-Rodriguez assaulted a family member at his home during a gathering while other family members were outside.
After securing an arrest warrant, police charged Vicuna-Rodriguez, who faced a judge this morning at the G.A. 23 court on Elm Street in New Haven.
He was held on a $75,000 bond.
The charges against Vicuna-Rodriguez include Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree, as well as Risk of Injury to a Child.
