WALLINGFORD — A 97-year-old man sustained minor injuries early Saturday morning when his vehicle skidded off a snow-covered US Route 7 and crashed near Clarendon Rd.

Harry Delong of Clarendon was traveling southbound at 6:57 a.m. when he lost control of his 2008 Buick Enclave, according to Vermont State Police.

Delong’s vehicle struck a guardrail and tumbled down an embankment, resulting in the vehicle being totaled.

Despite the severe damage to the vehicle, Delong, who was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident, suffered only minor injuries.

He was evaluated at the scene by Wallingford Emergency Medical Services but was not transported to a hospital.

The Wallingford Fire Department and EMS worked alongside state troopers to respond to the incident.

The snowfall had left the road treacherous, and authorities remind drivers to exercise caution when traveling in such conditions.
