WORCESTER — A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to a shooting that occurred on East Central Street last month, Worcester Police Department officials announced Tuesday.
Daraye Young of Laurel Street was apprehended by detectives after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The shooting incident took place on Feb. 25 at approximately 6 a.m., when police were called to the scene where a male victim had been shot.
The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Following a thorough investigation, Young was charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (firearm), attempt to commit a crime (carjacking), and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Young was located and taken into custody on March 21 without incident.
Further details about the case or the condition of the victim have not been released at this time.
The Worcester Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
