NEWPORT — A winter storm watch has been issued from Friday evening through late Saturday night for Orleans County, according to the National Weather Service in Burlington.
Heavy snow is possible with total snow accumulations greater than 7 inches, especially over the higher terrain in northeastern Vermont.
The watch includes areas from northern New York to the Northeast Kingdom, forecasting a challenging travel situation.
The storm is expected to spread across the region from west to east, beginning Friday night, with heavy snowfall continuing through Saturday before diminishing Saturday night. The National Weather Service advises that travel could be very difficult due to the conditions.
Residents and travelers in the affected areas are advised to monitor the latest forecasts and prepare for potential impacts.
