LYNDON — A St. Johnsbury man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and operating a vehicle with a criminally suspended license late Saturday night, according to the Vermont State Police.

Troopers conducting patrol near the intersection of US-5 and VT-114 initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle violation at approximately 10:24 p.m.

The driver, identified as Christopher Newhook, 42, displayed signs of impairment, which prompted field sobriety tests.

The investigation confirmed that Newhook was operating the vehicle while intoxicated and with a suspended license.

He was taken into custody and processed at the St. Johnsbury Barracks.

Newhook was later released to a sober individual and is scheduled to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court to face the charges.
