MILLIS — A Rhode Island man was taken into custody Wednesday and is now facing significant drug charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected narcotics.
Millis Police Department officers, accompanied by K-9 Nytro, stopped the man’s vehicle following a detective’s observation of what appeared to be a drug transaction at a local apartment complex.
During the search of the car, police, with the assistance of their German shepherd, uncovered substances believed to be crack cocaine and potential Fentanyl.
In addition to the drugs, over $3,000 in cash and several drug-related paraphernalia were seized from the vehicle.
The driver, whose name has not been released, was arrested and charged with possession of a Class A drug with intent to distribute and possession of a Class B drug with intent to distribute.
Police have not released the name of the suspect at this time.
