BOSTON — Officers from the South End’s District D-4 arrested a man Thursday evening for allegedly shoplifting more than $2,000 worth of merchandise from the Prudential Mall’s Sephora store.

At approximately 6:37 p.m., police were patrolling the 800 block of Boylston Street as part of an initiative to curb the recent spike in shoplifting incidents.

Loss prevention personnel notified officers that an individual known for previous thefts had exited Sephora without paying for numerous items.

Authorities located the suspect’s vehicle near 88 Exeter Street, where 42-year-old Rafael Ramos of Braintree was apprehended after stepping out of the car.

Officers discovered several stolen products with Sephora price tags attached, totaling an estimated value of $2,013.

Ramos now faces charges for shoplifting property valued over $1,200 and is slated for arraignment at Boston Municipal Court.
