PITTSFIELD — A 50-year-old Pittsfield man was arrested and charged with cocaine trafficking and illegal firearm possession after a traffic stop by the Pittsfield Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit on Tuesday night.
Michael Caropresso was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by officers for a headlight violation.
Upon making contact with Caropresso, who was known to the officers, they discovered a large quantity of a white powder substance suspected to be cocaine and a loaded firearm in the vehicle.
Caropresso was charged with one count each of trafficking in cocaine (36 grams or more), carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a large capacity feeding device, improper storage of a large capacity firearm, and firearm violation with two prior violent/drug crimes.
He was arraigned at Berkshire County District Court on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.
