HAVERHILL — A young couple was found dead from gunshot wounds in an apparent murder-suicide at a Haverhill home on Sunday evening, authorities said.
The Essex County District Attorney’s Office identified the victims as 24-year-old Loren Marino of Haverhill and 24-year-old Austin Amaral of North Providence, Rhode Island.
Haverhill police responded to 195 Broadway around 6 p.m. on March 3 for a well-being check. Upon arrival, officers discovered Marino and Amaral deceased inside the residence.
The preliminary investigation suggests the two were in a dating relationship, according to Essex District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Haverhill Police Chief Robert Pistone.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the apparent murder-suicide. The Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit and Haverhill police detectives are leading the ongoing probe.
