BOSTON — Officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested a local man on drug trafficking charges following a patrol aimed at addressing quality of life issues in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard, authorities said Sunday.
At approximately 12:25 p.m., police observed Rafael Claudio, 47, of Roxbury, along with a group of individuals who appeared to be involved in a drug transaction.
When officers approached, the group scattered, discarding items that officers believed to be drugs.
Claudio was detained, and officers recovered plastic bags containing what they suspected were illegal substances.
A search incident to the arrest led to the discovery of a bag holding multiple smaller bags, which were later confirmed to contain 31 grams of Fentanyl and an undetermined amount of crack cocaine.
Claudio faces charges of trafficking class A drugs, and possession with intent to distribute class B drugs.
He is scheduled for arraignment in Roxbury District Court.
