SALEM — Police in Salem are cautioning residents to be vigilant after a recent incident of package theft occurred not on a porch, but in a driveway on Linwood Ave.
Residents are encouraged to take deliveries inside as soon as possible to minimize the risk of their parcels falling into the wrong hands.
The police also reminded people to keep their heads on a swivel and to report any unusual activity they observe.
This latest theft highlights a growing problem in the area, as “porch pirates” — thieves who steal packages left outside homes — continue to take advantage of unattended deliveries.
The Salem Police Department is investigating the Linwood Ave incident and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
In the meantime, they are stressing the importance of community vigilance to prevent further thefts.
