WORCESTER — Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting that took place on Shannon St on Feb. 12, following a collaborative effort by local law enforcement.
Worcester Police, assisted by the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Squad, apprehended 21-year-old Kidam Oquendo from Wawecus Rd and 18-year-old Alexis Medeiros from Chandler St in Gardner on the evening of Feb. 23.
Both individuals are now facing charges related to the incident.
Oquendo has been charged with a series of serious offenses, including Armed Assault to Murder, Attempted Assault and Battery by Firearm, Possession of a Firearm without a License to Carry, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, and Possession of a Firearm during a Felony.
Medeiros is facing charges of Accessory After the Fact and Obstruction of Justice.
The initial call to police occurred in the early morning hours of Feb. 12, when officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation on Shannon St around 3:16 a.m.
Upon arrival, evidence of gunfire was found, but no victim was immediately located.
A subsequent search of local hospitals led to the discovery of a 17-year-old gunshot victim, who was later pronounced dead.
The Worcester Police Department continues its investigation and encourages anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
