MIDDLEBOROUGH — A juvenile girl was found dead and three others injured after a house fire broke out early Saturday morning on Pearl Street, according to local authorities.

The Middleborough Fire and Police Departments received a call around 2 a.m. on Feb. 24 about a structure fire at 27 Pearl Street with individuals reportedly trapped inside.

Upon arrival, emergency crews found the home engulfed in flames on both the first and second floors.

Efforts to rescue a young female from inside the house were hampered by intense flames, resulting in fire personnel being temporarily unable to enter the building.

After the blaze was subdued, the juvenile was found deceased within the residence.

An adult female was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of serious burn injuries.

An adult male and another juvenile female were also transported to local hospitals with injuries that were believed to be less critical.

Mutual aid was provided by fire departments from neighboring towns including Raynham, Bridgewater, and Lakeville, while Carver fire crews covered Middleborough stations during the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by multiple agencies, including the Middleborough Fire and Police Departments, the State Fire Marshal’s Office Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit, and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
