CONCORD — An inmate from the New Hampshire State Prison for Men who escaped while at Concord Hospital was located and captured overnight with the aid of a drone’s thermal imaging technology.
New Hampshire State Police, with assistance from Troopers assigned to Troop D and the Special Enforcement Unit, used the advanced technology to find the inmate hiding approximately 1 mile from the hospital.
After the drone pinpointed the inmate’s location, ground units including other Troopers, the Concord Police Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Corrections officers were directed to the area.
The inmate was safely taken back into custody without incident.
The successful apprehension highlights the growing use of drones in law enforcement to enhance the safety of officers and the community.
