THETFORD — A Thetford man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment following a shooting at a local intersection earlier this month.

Thetford Police Department responded to a shooting on Feb. 7 at the intersection of US Route 5 and VT Route 113.

Sergeant Karie Tucker and her team gathered witness statements and video evidence that led to the identification of a suspect vehicle.

During the investigation, Sgt. Tucker located a vehicle matching the description at a residence a few miles from the crime scene.

Steven Duffy, 68, of Fairlee, was later identified as the individual associated with the vehicle.

Police efforts to communicate with Duffy resulted in a search warrant for his truck and subsequently his residence.

With the support of the Fairlee Police, Vermont State Police, and Bradford Police, the search warrant was executed on Duffy’s house on Feb. 23.

The search led to the discovery of additional evidence linking Duffy to the shooting.

Later that day, Duffy was arrested and transported to the Orange County Superior Court, where he faced the charges related to the February 7 incident.

The court released Duffy under conditions following his arraignment.
