COLCHESTER — A head-on collision involving two vehicles occurred near 6068 Roosevelt Highway at about 4:23 p.m. Wednesday, resulting in one vehicle overturning and another driver being trapped.
Colchester Emergency Communications Center received several 911 calls reporting the accident.
Colchester Police swiftly responded, shutting down the highway in both directions to allow for rescue operations.
Fire and rescue teams from Colchester worked diligently to free the entrapped individual, who was eventually taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center with injuries described as non-life threatening.
Milton Rescue also provided assistance at the scene.
Traffic on Roosevelt Highway was partially restored by 4:56 p.m., with one lane reopening to motorists.
The highway fully reopened later in the evening around 6:45 p.m.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the crash, but early indications suggest that neither speed nor impairment were factors.
