PITTSFORD — A Rutland Town woman was charged Sunday with being an accessory after the fact and providing false reports to law enforcement following a mechanic shop burglary in Pittsford.

Melissa Sheldon, 45, was processed at the Vermont State Police – Rutland Barracks for her alleged involvement in the burglary that occurred earlier that day at 11:31 a.m.

Authorities responded to the scene where vehicles, a motorcycle, and various tools were reported stolen.

After a thorough investigation, state police determined Sheldon had been complicit in the crime and misled officers to hinder the investigation.

Sheldon is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Rutland Criminal Division, on April 22 at 10 a.m.
