EXETER — The Exeter Police Department is probing the theft of two high-value vehicles from Foss Motors after they were reported stolen early on the morning of Feb. 17 and later recovered in Boston, Mass.
Officials from the dealership, located at 133 Portsmouth Ave., reported the incident just after 7:30 a.m. upon reviewing surveillance footage.
The video captured a newer model Jeep Grand Cherokee in the parking lot with two individuals exiting the vehicle and approaching three Dodge SRT Hellcats.
A white 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody and a red 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat were taken from the dealership.
A possible attempt on a third vehicle, a 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody, was evident from a shattered driver’s side rear window.
The suspects managed to start and drive away with the vehicles without keys, suggesting the use of an electronic device to bypass the vehicles’ security systems.
Later that day, the Boston Police Department responded to a call from the Hilton Boston Back Bay hotel at around 3:17 a.m. A hotel employee reported that the Dodge Challenger had crashed through a parking gate.
Hotel security observed three men dressed in black entering an adjacent parking lot shortly before the incident.
One of the suspects later confronted the hotel staff, claiming to have delivered food and refusing to pay the parking fee.
After their request to waive the fee was denied, two men drove through the gate in the Challenger.
The same vehicle was eventually located in the Hynes Auditorium parking garage.
In a separate discovery, the stolen Dodge Charger was found in a Sheraton hotel parking garage, equipped with a stolen Massachusetts commercial license plate.
The investigation into the vehicle thefts continues.
The Exeter Police Department urges anyone with information to call them at 603-772-1212.
