Boys hockey stuns with 8-0 win, NCUHS girls basketball triumphs 40-29 over Lake Region

NEWPORT — The Boys Ice Hockey team extended their impressive winning streak with a resounding 8-0 victory against Northfield on Monday. Alex Giroux spearheaded the win with a remarkable performance, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists.

Close behind was Tripp Roberge, contributing 2 goals and 2 assists, while Adam Dusek added 2 goals and an assist to the tally.

Jonathan Giroux also played a pivotal role with 1 goal and 3 assists, and Ben West netted a goal. Assists were also made by Logan Nelson and Andrew Menard, each adding one to the team’s success.

In the goal, Aiden Bashaw was formidable, making 10 saves and achieving a well-deserved shutout. The team’s focus is now on their upcoming game against Harwood, scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., where they aim to continue their winning streak.

On the girls’ side, the Varsity Girls Basketball team also celebrated success, improving their season record to 17-1 following a 40-29 win against Lake Region on Monday.

Leading the charge was Sabine Brueck with a high of 16 points, closely followed by Josi Fortin, who contributed 11 points. The team is excitedly preparing for Senior Night, where they will face Harwood tonight at 6:30 p.m.

In Junior Varsity action, the girls’ team secured a 49-34 victory. Danika Phillabaum starred in the game, scoring 16 points, while Ava Patten added a significant 12 points.
