NEWPORT — Kinney Drugs named Analesa Muir, R.Ph., Supervising Pharmacist at the Shattuck Hill Location in Newport, as the 2024 Quest for Excellence Award Winner during its annual Leadership Conference at Turning Stone Resort in Verona, NY.
The award, representing the company’s highest honor, celebrates outstanding leadership, achievement, and performance among its employees.
Analesa was honored for her exceptional management of the busy Newport pharmacy, focusing on efficiency, productivity, safety, and patient-centered care. She distinguished herself through her dedication to medication therapy management (MTM) services, counseling thousands of patients on their medications to enhance adherence and health outcomes.
Her efforts led the Newport pharmacy to be recognized as one of the top pharmacies in the country for providing MTM services.
John Marraffa Jr., R.Ph., President of Kinney Drugs, praised Analesa’s clinical expertise, compassion, and empathy, noting her significant contributions to patient education and medication adherence, which have greatly benefited the community’s overall well-being.
Analesa, a 2016 graduate of the University of New England in Portland, Maine, began her career with Kinney Drugs as an intern in 2014. She worked as a “floating” pharmacist before joining the Newport staff in 2019 and was promoted to Supervising Pharmacist in December 2022.
A lifelong resident of Derby Line, she currently resides in Derby with her partner, Bill Hodgeman, and is close to her family, including her parents Bruce and Mary Muir, sister Eilish, brother-in-law Marc Quirion, and niece Charlotte.
Upon receiving the award, Analesa expressed surprise and gratitude, attributing her success to her dedicated team in Newport, which enabled her to focus on medication therapy management and excel in her role.
“I was genuinely shocked when John announced my name for the award,” Analesa said. “I have an outstanding team of pharmacists and technicians in Newport that allow me to take the time with patients to work on medication therapy management. If it were not for this amazing team, this award would not have been possible.”
