1 min read

WESTFIELD — A high-speed chase ending in Westfield late last night led to the arrest of Joel Gouin, 38, and Danielle Gilman, 38, both of Saint Johnsbury, on multiple charges, including possession of stolen property and drug trafficking.

Vermont State Police from the Derby Barracks, following a tip from Saint Johnsbury Barracks, spotted a stolen Toyota 4Runner on VT RT 101 in Troy. The vehicle, reported stolen from Danville, failed to stop for a traffic check and led troopers on a dangerous pursuit.

Gouin, the driver, evaded police, driving recklessly and endangering other motorists during inclement weather conditions.

The pursuit concluded on Kennison Road in Westfield, where Gouin’s vehicle became lodged in a snowbank. Attempting to flee on foot, Gouin was quickly apprehended by troopers. A search revealed stolen items from the 4Runner and a burglary in Danville, along with cocaine and fentanyl in his possession.

Gilman, the passenger, confessed to having a stolen firearm, also taken from the 4Runner. Both Gouin and Gilman were lodged at the Northern State Correctional Facility.
