COLCHESTER — On February 9, George Casey, 33, of Colchester, was sentenced to 262 months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of production and one count of possession of child pornography.

The sentencing was handed down in the United States District Court in Burlington.

Chief U.S. District Judge Geoffrey W. Crawford also ordered Casey to serve a 15-year term of supervised release following his prison sentence.

The investigation, triggered by a 2020 report of Casey sexually assaulting minors, led to the discovery of videos showing Casey assaulting two young girls and a large collection of child sexual abuse material on his devices.

United States Attorney Nikolas P. Kerest lauded the collaborative efforts of Homeland Security Investigations, the Chittenden Unit for Special Investigations, and the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in the investigation.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
