DARTMOUTH — A Plymouth man wanted on several warrants was arrested Wednesday night at a local motel, Dartmouth police said.
Royleton Haston Jr., 22, was taken into custody around 8:50 p.m. at the Best Western Motel after Officer Alex Tisdelle spotted a vehicle linked to the fugitive, according to a Dartmouth police press release.
Haston, who has been involved in numerous police incidents, was wanted on seven warrants.
Charges included assault and battery on a correctional facility employee, two counts of assault and battery with a bodily substance, malicious destruction to a motor vehicle, violation of an abuse prevention order, violation of an abuse prevention order involving assault and battery, and failure to stop for police.
Due to Haston’s history of violence and attempts to evade police, members of the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT team were deployed to the motel.
Meanwhile, Dartmouth Police Detective Matthew Correia obtained a search warrant for Haston’s motel room.
SWAT team members secured the hallway before Haston was arrested without further incident.
