POWNAL — A suspicious death in Pownal is currently under investigation by the Vermont State Police, following an incident that occurred Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 6.
Police launched the investigation around 3 p.m. after receiving a report of an altercation on Chickadee Drive, where they discovered an adult man deceased at the scene.
The case, still in its early stages, involves the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Field Force Division, Crime Scene Search Team, and Victim Services Unit.
The Bennington Police Department is also providing assistance. As of now, no arrests have been made, and there appears to be no immediate threat to the broader community.
The victim’s body is set to be transported to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to confirm identity and determine the cause and manner of death.
Authorities are withholding the victim’s name pending further investigation and notification of the family.
