READSBORO — Vermont State Police arrested a Connecticut man early Tuesday morning on multiple charges including first-degree aggravated domestic assault.
Douglas Hicks, 46, of Beacon Falls, Connecticut, was taken into custody following a complaint of a family fight on Wheeler Drive.
According to police, Hicks physically assaulted a 43-year-old family member and violated an active abuse prevention order.
The incident also involved criminal threatening and the destruction of property.
Authorities responded to the scene at 2:36 a.m. and after an investigation, Hicks was arrested and processed at the Shaftsbury State Police barracks.
Following processing, he was transported for arraignment at the Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division.
The Vermont State Police have not released the name of the victim in adherence to policies protecting victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
