FRAMINGHAM — A months-long joint investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit and the MetroWest Drug Task Force culminated in the seizure of approximately 1 kilogram of cocaine and just under $20,000 in cash, authorities said Wednesday.
The investigation, which began in January, targeted an individual suspected of trafficking cocaine in the Marlborough and Worcester areas.
During the course of the operation, investigators identified several locations of interest and obtained the necessary search warrants.
On Feb. 6, the MSP Gang Unit, MetroWest Drug Task Force, MSP Special Investigation Unit for Middlesex and Worcester, Northborough Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations executed multiple search warrants in Marlborough and Northborough.
The coordinated raids resulted in the arrest of one individual, who now faces charges of trafficking in cocaine over 200 grams.
The suspect’s name has not been released pending further investigation.
Officials have highlighted this operation as a significant blow to regional drug trafficking activities and have reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling illicit networks.
Further details on the investigation and subsequent legal proceedings are expected to be released as the case progresses.
