CHICOPEE — A 911 call reporting possible gunfire led Chicopee police to a bleeding man in a parking lot late Saturday evening.
Authorities received the distress call at about 9:56 p.m. from an individual at 1 Springfield St., who reported what they believed to be shots fired.
Responding officers found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.
Police administered first aid until the Chicopee Fire Department arrived and took over the victim’s care.
The injured man was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Chicopee detectives, with the support of the Massachusetts State Police, are actively investigating the shooting.
The Chicopee Police Department urges anyone with information to come forward and contact the Detective Bureau at 413-594-1740.
Residents in the vicinity with security cameras are also asked to review their footage for any material that might aid the ongoing investigation.
