WALTHAM — A two-vehicle collision on US Route 7 near the Victory Baptist Church resulted in both cars being totaled early this morning.
At around 7:35 a.m., Troopers arrived at the scene where a Subaru Forester, operated by 39-year-old Melissa Ethridge of Charlotte, was attempting a three-point turn on a downhill grade.
Ethridge stopped her vehicle in the northbound lane just as a Nissan Rogue, driven by 55-year-old Deborah Brosseau of Vergennes, was traveling north.
Due to the hill’s crest, Brosseau could not see Ethridge’s car in time to avoid a collision.
The front end of Brosseau’s Nissan struck the passenger side of Ethridge’s Subaru, causing both vehicles to come to an uncontrolled stop.
Despite the extensive damage to both vehicles, Ethridge did not sustain any injuries.
Brosseau suffered suspected minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, which occurred under cloudy skies and on dry road conditions.
The Vergennes Fire Department and Vergennes Area Rescue Squad assisted Troopers at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
